Peacock Adds Underrated John Woo Action Movie Today

One of John Woo‘s underrated action movies has finally found a new streaming home in Peacock, more than two years after it was first released. The film served as the award-winning Hong Kong filmmaker’s first Hollywood movie comeback after directing 2003’s Ben Affleck-led movie Paycheck.

What John Woo movie is now available on Peacock?

As of today, Woo’s action thriller movie Silent Night is now officially available to stream on Peacock. The 2023 movie was led by The Suicide Squad star Joel Kinnaman as a father looking to take revenge against the people responsible for his son’s death. The heartbreaking incident also left his character with a permanent disability, which resulted in him losing his voice. Because of this, the movie features no spoken dialogue and is told through Kinnaman’s physical performance.

“A gritty revenge tale of a tormented father who witnesses his young son die when caught in a gang’s crossfire on Christmas Eve. While recovering from a wound that costs him his voice, he makes vengeance his life’s mission and embarks on a punishing training regimen in order to avenge his son’s death,” reads the official synopsis.

Woo directed and produced the movie from a screenplay written by Robert Archer Lynn. The cast also included Kid Cudi as Detective Dennis Vassel, Harold Torres as Playa, Catalina Sandino Moreno as Saya, Yoko Hamamura as Ruiz, Valeria Santaella as Venus, and more. It was produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Christian Mercuri, and Lori Tilkin. Since its debut, the movie has received a Tomatometer rating of 60% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 125 reviews.
