1 of the Best Zombie Movies To Stream on Peacock Soon
A popular zombie movie that sparked widespread buzz at the time of its release in 2016 has found a new streaming home on Peacock. Train to Busan, a South Korean movie, is one of many movie titles that will start streaming on the platform next month. The film, a co-production between Next Entertainment World and RedPeter Film, first premiered at Cannes on May 13, 2016, before hitting South Korean theaters on July 20. At the time of its release, the film reportedly became the first Korean movie to break the audience record of over 10 million theatergoers.
Train to Busan arrives on Peacock in February
Train to Busan will reportedly start streaming on Peacock on February 11, 2026. Also premiering on the streamer that day is Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City.
Following its release, the film grossed an estimated $98.5 million at the global box office against a modest budget of $8.5 million. In addition, its success spawned a franchise currently consisting of an animated prequel film, Seoul Station, and a standalone sequel, Peninsula. The franchise is set to expand with a new follow-up film and an American remake, The Last Train to New York.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Train to Busan holds an impressive certified fresh critical score of 95% and a solid audience score of 89%. Meanwhile, on Metacritic, which uses a weighted average to calculate its scores, the film holds a robust Metascore of 73 and a user score of 8.0 — both of which denote “generally favorable” perception.
The film’s story takes place on a KTX traveling from Seoul to Busan. It follows the train’s passengers, who find themselves unexpectedly confronting a zombie apocalypse when one of the infected passengers with bite marks bites a train attendant and spreads the infection. In the ensuing chaos, a small group of passengers, including a father and daughter duo, try to escape to safety while confronting betrayal and selfishness from the other passengers.
Yeon Sang-ho directed the film from Park Joo-suk’s screenplay. Meanwhile, Lee Dong-ha produced the film.
Train to Busan’s cast includes Gong Yoo, Jung Yu-mi, Ma Dong-seok, Kim Su-an, Kim Eui-sung, Choi Woo-sik, Sohee, Ye Soo-jung, and Park Myung-shin, among others.
