Supergirl’s Jason Momoa on What’s Next for Lobo After Debut

While fans know Jason Momoa as the king of Atlantis, the actor is trading his trident for interstellar bounty hunting as he steps into the role of the infamous Czarnian, Lobo. With his debut set for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Momoa is already teasing a gnarly performance and dreaming of a future for the fan-favorite antihero.

Jason Momoa on what’s potentially in store for Lobo in DCU

The DCU is getting a major dose of chaotic energy with Jason Momoa’s casting as Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. So the actor’s focus is squarely on his debut as he shared palpable excitement about stepping into the role, calling it a “pinch me moment.” Momoa even teased his intense first scene, saying, “I’m pressed to see another actor pull off that first take, what we did. I’m excited to talk about it because it’s hard. And I grabbed it with gusto and I’m very excited about it.”

When looking beyond this first film, Jason Momoa remains cautiously optimistic but unaware of any concrete plans. He confirmed, “I only know Lobo’s in this one, and so we’ll see what the future of all that holds.” Expressing his personal hopes, he added, “I would love for his own thing to be coming out.” Ultimately, he believes the character’s longevity may depend on fan reception, noting, “I think it’s probably up to the audience and how they feel about it.”

Reflecting on his initial tenure as Arthur Curry, Momoa shared with Screenrant, “I think they’re very different because they’re also different characters. I came in on a whisp of an idea on Batman v Superman until Justice League hit.” He described Zack Snyder’s direction as thoroughly planned, stating, “it was all pretty mapped out by Zack. He had it all very mapped out.”

While DC Studios has not announced formal plans for Lobo after Supergirl, the character’s popularity and Momoa’s star power possibly leave the door wide open.
