Spider-Man 4 Director Teases Tom Holland’s Performance in MCU Movie

Destin Daniel Cretton is starting to open up about Tom Holland’s performance in Spider-Man 4.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will be released in United States theaters this summer. Directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ Cretton, the movie will once again see Holland reprise his MCU role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

What did Destin Daniel Cretton say about Spider-Man 4?

In an interview with The Movie Dweeb, Cretton was asked if there was any one specific scene in Spider-Man 4 that he can’t wait for audiences to experience for the first time.

Cretton admitted that there are “so many scenes” that immediately flashed through his head when asked the prompt. Rather than give away any specific details about the movie, though, he then used the opportunity to praise Holland’s acting.

“I’m really excited for everybody to see Tom Holland in this movie because he killed it. His performance is incredible,” Cretton said. “He went to places, and we all did, that I think people, fans, and just anybody who watches the movie, I think will feel very connected to the emotions that we’re exploring. And it’s also really fun. It’s a very fun movie.”

Plot details for Brand New Day are still being kept heavily under wraps at this time. There’s been much speculation about a forthcoming trailer that could arrive in the very near future, though this all appears to be just rumors, as Sony has yet to officially announce anything.

In addition to Holland, the cast includes Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, and Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone, while Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Tramell Tillman have all been cast in undisclosed roles.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 4 arrives on July 31, 2026.
