Will Poulter’s MCU Return Gets Disappointing Update

One member of the MCU‘s Guardians of the Galaxy lineup might not be returning to the future of the cinematic universe anytime soon, according to their actor.

What’s the latest update on Will Poulter’s MCU return?

Speaking to variety in a recent interview with Variety Studio, Will Poulter — who played Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 — was asked about his character potentially re-joining the MCU. Poulter had no real answer though, and whether he was playing it coy or simply telling the truth, he says he has no clue.

“Oh, none. I know nothing,” said Poulter when asked. “And in general, it’s one of those things, if I did know something, I wouldn’t be allowed to say, but I genuinely know nothing.”

Poulter starred as Adam Warlock in the third Guardians of the Galaxy film. While his character is a mainstay in the world of Marvel Comics, it’s unclear whether or not he’ll ever be back for future projects. In the meantime, the next big film in the MCU, Avengers: Doomsday, will feature a litany of stars.

So far, several major stars from the MCU have been confirmed to appear in the movie, including Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man.

More names for the upcoming movie include Wyatt Russell’s U.S. Agent/John Walker, Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s The Thing/Ben Grimm, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Kelsey Grammer’s Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast, Lewis Pullman’s Bob/Sentry, Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm/Human Torch, David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Winston Duke‘s M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen‘s Ava Starr/Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki.

Several X-Men characters are also coming back for the upcoming movie, including Patrick Stewart‘s Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen‘s Magneto, Alan Cumming‘s Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn‘s Mystique, James Marsden‘s Cyclops, and Channing Tatum‘s Gambit.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars will release a year later on December 17, 2027.
