Matchbox: John Cena & Jessica Biel’s 2026 Blockbuster Movie Gets Logo

Apple Original Films, Skydance Media, and Mattel Studios have finally shared the official title logo for the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Matchbox, which will be led by John Cena (Peacemaker) and Jessica Biel (Candy). The project is based on Mattel’s real-world die-cast car toy line, which was invented by automotive expert Jack Odell in 1953.

The movie logo bears the same font style as the toy franchise’s original logo. It also features the toy car line’s yellow and red signature colors.

What do we know about John Cena’s Matchbox movie?

“The story is described as an action-packed, globetrotting adventure that centers on a group of childhood friends who must work together to stop an impending worldwide disaster and rediscover their friendship along the way,” reads the initial synopsis.

The live-action Matchbox movie is directed by Sam Hargrave (Extraction, Extraction II), with David Coggeshall (The Family Plan) and Jonathan Tropper (The Adam Project) writing the screenplay. Joining Cena and Biel are Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso), Teyonah Parris (WandaVision), Arturo Castro (Broad City), Danai Gurira (Black Panther), and Corey Stoll (Ant-Man). Producers are David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger for Skydance Media; Jules Daly; and Ynon Kreiz and Robbie Brenner for Mattel Studios. It is executive-produced by Elizabeth Bassin.

“For nearly 70 years, Matchbox has carried enormous cultural relevance and inspired generations of kids to unleash their imaginations, combining what they see in the world every day with what they dream their own world to be,” Brenner said in a previous statement when the project was first announced back in 2022. “We look forward to working with our incredible partners at Skydance Media to craft a story for the big screen that evokes the same imaginative spirit of this beloved Mattel franchise and delights fans of all ages.”

The film will be released in Fall 2026.
