Robert Eggers’ Werwulf Movie Gets Exciting Update Ahead of 2026 Release Date
Robert Eggers’ upcoming werewolf movie, titled Werwulf, hit a big milestone this week, getting an exciting update ahead of the film’s release later this year.
What is the latest Werwulf movie update?
In a recent post on Facebook, cinematographer Jarin Blaschke, who is a longtime collaborator with Eggers, shared the news that Werwulf had officially wrapped location shooting. Blaschke also shared photos of some of his gear as well, most of which was caked in dirt. In the photos, Blaschke’s clothes can be seen sitting in a bathtub, complete with a ton of dirt all over them.
Ralph Ineson, who stars in the film, also took to social media to share the news that the film wrapped. The star shared a photo of the film’s wrap party, including a sign that signified the film’s finish.
Details for Werwulf are mostly unknown as of now, but the project will be set in 13th-century England, and much like Eggers’ other projects, will feature dialogue and settings accurate to the period. Original rumors suggested the film would be in black and white, according to THR, but that won’t be the case.
The movie will star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, Ineson, Jan Bijvoet, Ritchi Edwards, and Bodhi Rae Breathnach. Werwulf is currently set to release on Christmas 2026.
Prior to the announcement of Werwulf, rumors suggested that Eggers had been tapped to direct a new Labyrinth movie. Eggers himself has also spoken about wanting to make a medieval movie known right now as The Knight, as well as one day hoping to make a Western film. He’s also been rumored to be working on a miniseries about Grigori Rasputin, the Russian mystic and faith healer.
