Martin Scorsese’s new movie, titled What Happens At Night, has added an Oscar nominee to its cast.

What Happens at Night is based on a 2020 novel of the same name by Peter Cameron. Directed and produced by Scorsese, the Apple Studios movie is written by Patrick Maber and stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.

Who has joined the cast of Martin Scorsese’s new movie?

Per Deadline, it has now been announced that Patricia Clarkson will also star in What Happens at Night.

Clarkson previously worked with Scorsese on 2010’s Shutter Island, which also starred DiCaprio. She was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her performance in 2003’s Pieces of April, while her filmography also includes 1987’s The Untouchables, 1995’s Jumanji, 1999’s The Green Mile, 2002’s Far from Heaven, 2003’s The Station Agent, 2007’s Lars and the Real Girl, 2010’s Easy A, 2024’s Lilly, and more. Additionally, she played Ava Paige in the Maze Runner movies.

A description of the What Happens at Night book reads, “An unnamed American couple travels to a strange, snowy European city to adopt a baby. It’s a difficult journey that leaves the wife, who is struggling with cancer, desperately weak, and her husband worries that her illness will prevent the orphanage from releasing their child.

“On arrival, the couple checks into the cavernous and eerily deserted Borgarfjaroasysla Grand Imperial Hotel where the bar is always open and the lobby populated with an enigmatic cast of characters ranging from an ancient, flamboyant chanteuse to a debauched businessman to an enigmatic faith healer. Nothing is as it seems in this baffling, frozen world, and the more the couple struggles to claim their baby, the less they seem to know about their marriage, themselves, and life itself.”

A release date for What Happens at Night has not yet been set.
