Jason Statham’s Action Movie Clip Hypes up His New Release

The latest movie featuring Jason Statham in the lead role has released a brand-new featurette, enticing moviegoers with exhilarating action sequences. Shelter is an upcoming action thriller from director Ric Roman Waugh, who has also helmed 2019’s Angel Has Fallen and the Greenland movies. Ward Parry wrote the script for the film.

Statham is at his action hero best in a new featurette for the upcoming movie Shelter. In the video, Waugh describes the Wrath of Man star as someone who “lives his life the way his characters are portrayed.” The filmmaker adds, “He’s [Statham] got that moral code, that integrity, that authenticity.” Waugh also praises Statham as a “man of action,” who is “on the cliffs, crashing, putting every ounce of energy he has into every single scene.”

The official logline for Shelter reads, “Mason [Statham] lives in recluse at a remote setting by the sea. When he chooses to rescue a young girl from drowning in a terrible storm, he unwittingly sets off a chain reaction that soon brings violence his way, forcing him to confront choices from his past.”

The movie’s cast also includes Bodhi Rae Breathnach as Jesse, Bill Nighy, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, Gordon Alexander, Harriet Walter, and Tom Wu. As well as leading the cast, Statham also serves as a producer on the movie.

At one point, Icelandic filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur, known for directing movies like Contraband and 2 Guns, was originally slated to direct before Waugh replaced him. Black Bear Pictures is one of the production companies behind the movie. Some of the other recent features they have developed are Sydney Sweeney’s sports biopic Christy and Netflix period drama Train Dreams.

After the box-office success of Statham’s last two movies, The Beekeeper and A Working Man, the film could become an early hit at the 2026 box office. The film premieres in theaters on January 30, 2026.
