DCU React Strongly Against Latest Batman Movie Writer News
A new update about the writer for the DCU Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold, has surfaced, leaving fans unhappy. Recent reports state that Christina Hodson, who previously scripted DCEU’s The Flash and Birds of Prey, has been tapped to write the film’s screenplay. While the movie is currently in development and far from entering production, it hasn’t stopped speculation about casting and other details.
Fans aren’t liking DCU Batman movie’s writer announcement
TheInsneider recently reported that Christina Hodson had been hired to write the screenplay for the DCU Batman film, Brave and the Bold. The report was later backed by major trades like The Hollywood Reporter. The outlet reported, citing a source, that Hodson had been working on the film since Fall 2025.
Although James Gunn — who had been reportedly keeping the writer’s identity a secret — and DC Studios are yet to address Hodson’s involvement, the report left a bad taste in many fans’ mouths. This is because of the scribe’s past DC filmography being far from stellar on a commercial level. Hodson previously wrote Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey, which didn’t become a major box office success, and Ezra Miller’s The Flash, which flopped.
Consequently, fans took to social media to express their dismay, with some even suggesting that there was time for course-correction.
This report comes shortly after Gunn addressed whether fans would get an update on the film’s development this year or not. On Threads, he told a fan that he was waiting for “an actionable script.” He added, “Also, frankly, we’re well into Batman 2, and I wouldn’t want to cloud the Batsphere until after that.”
The DC Studios co-CEO also acknowledged the script’s evolving stage. He said, “It could seem like it’s one draft away, and then you get the next draft and go, ‘You know what? I still think it needs one more draft to get there.'”
Andy Muschietti, who helmed The Flash, is attached to the upcoming film as director. Meanwhile, Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran will co-produce the movie. The film will follow the relationship between Batman and his son, Damian Wayne a.k.a Robin.
