Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Sets 25th Anniversary Theatrical Rerelease Date
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that the 2001 coming-of-age fantasy movie will officially be getting a theatrical rerelease later this year. In addition to the special screenings, the company is also planning several fan-focused experiences, exclusive products, and more for the special event.
“The first installment of the blockbuster film franchise follows a boy who learns on his eleventh birthday that he is the orphaned son of two powerful wizards and possesses unique magical powers of his own,” reads the synopsis. “He is summoned from his life as an unwanted child to become a student at Hogwarts, an English boarding school for wizards. There, he meets several friends who become his closest allies and help him discover the truth about his parents’ mysterious deaths.”
When will Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone return to theaters?
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone will finally head back to the theaters for a limited time only. The 2001 movie was led by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Robbie Coltrane, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Warwick Davis, Richard Harris, Fiona Shaw, and more. So far, the movie has earned a total gross of over $1 billion at the global box office.
The theatrical rerelease is expected to feature 10 minutes of behind-the-scenes content, which has never been seen in theaters. The film will show on screens across North America between August 27 and September 3.

Special Screenings
- Shared Reality Experience: This spring, Harry Potter fans will be able to experience the magic of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in Shared Reality at Cosm.
- Cosm venues are currently open in Los Angeles and Dallas, with locations in Atlanta and Detroit set to open later this year.
- Tickets to experience Harry Potter in Shared Reality at Cosm go on sale March 4, 2026.
- Back to Hogwarts (August–September): The fan-favourite global celebration returns and promises to be bigger and better than ever, uniting the Harry Potter community around the world.

- A stunning 25th Anniversary logo, inspired by the silvery glow of the iconic Patronus, will feature across new and existing product lines.
