Netflix Ended 2025 With a Mammoth Subscriber Total
Netflix wrapped up 2025 with a major milestone, reporting a mind-boggling number of paid subscribers worldwide by year’s end. The figure was revealed in the company’s latest financial update and highlights Netflix’s continued growth. The report also showed gains in revenue and profit as Netflix benefited from strong viewership.
Netflix reaches 325 million paid subscribers
Netflix has crossed a major global milestone, reporting more than 325 million paid memberships by the end of 2025, a significant rise from just over 301 million subscribers a year earlier. The figure was revealed in the company’s fourth-quarter shareholder update. This is one of the few occasions Netflix has shared subscriber data since shifting away from routine quarterly reporting.
The report came as Netflix delivered a stronger financial performance than expected in the fourth quarter. Netflix posted revenue of $12.05 billion, up 17.6 percent year over year. Meanwhile, the streamer’s net income rose to $2.41 billion. Earnings reached 56 cents per share, slightly ahead of Wall Street projections. Netflix noted that advertising continued to gain traction in 2025, with ad-tier revenue surpassing $1.5 billion for the full year.
Although Netflix no longer reports subscriber numbers on a regular quarterly basis, the company said it would reveal updates when reaching a major milestone. In its shareholder letter, Netflix stated, “With over 325M paid memberships, we’re now serving an audience approaching one billion people globally (via Variety).”
Viewer engagement also increased over the second half of the year. Netflix users watched a combined 96 billion hours of content during the latter half of 2025. Viewing of Netflix originals alone climbed 9 percent compared with the same period in 2024.
Netflix’s fourth-quarter results were supported by major releases and live programming. The final season of Stranger Things 5 drove strong viewership during the period. Meanwhile, the streamer also attracted large audiences with its Christmas Day NFL games. Both contributed significantly to increased traffic on the platform during the final months of 2025.
