The Odyssey Soundtrack Gets an Update From Ludwig Göransson

The soundtrack for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, sailing into theaters later this year, has received a major update from composer Ludwig Göransson. Notably, the upcoming film marks the Swedish musician’s third collaboration with Nolan. He previously scored the soundtrack for the celebrated filmmaker’s preceding films, Tenet and Oppenheimer.

Matt Damon headlines the upcoming film as Odysseus. Supporting cast members include Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, and Benny Safdie, among others.

What Ludwig Göransson said about The Odyssey

In an appearance on Good Hang with Amy Poehler, the host asked Ludwig Göransson, who was in his Los Angeles studio, if he was currently working on something. The two-time Oscar winner replied that he was working on “new projects.”

Poehler then asked if he could be specific or if he had to keep what he was working on a secret. To this, Göransson responded, “I’m in the world of Chris Nolan right now,” referring to his work on The Odyssey’s soundtrack. He added that although his work on the massive film was “taking up [his] time,” and that it was “fun.”

In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Matt Damon, who will star as Odysseus in The Odyssey — marking his third collaboration with Christopher Nolan following Interstellar and Oppenheimer — called the film “the pinnacle of [his] entire career.” The Rip actor added that he loved “every minute” of filming.

Moreover, Damon touched upon his and the rest of the cast and crew’s work on the film. He labeled it “an ambitious project,” adding, “The amount of work that needed to be done, there was just no time for anything else.” He continued, “I’ve never, ever done a movie that just required every single person to work to kind of give the maximum effort.”

Damon recalled telling Ben Affleck who also appeared on the show, “Every location on that movie would have been the hardest location on any other movie I’ve ever done, and any day of work would have been harder than any other day on any other movie I’ve ever done.”

The Odyssey premieres in theaters on July 17, 2026. In addition to directing the film, an adaptation of Homer’s Odyssey, Christopher Nolan wrote the screenplay.
