New The Conjuring Movie Gets Title, Release Date, & Director
A new The Conjuring Movie is officially in the works, and Warner Bros. has officially revealed the movies title and release date.
What is the new The Conjuring movie’s title?
The new movie in the franchise will be titled The Conjuring: First Communion, and is set to release on September 10, 2027. The movie will be directed by Rodrigue Huart, from a screenplay written by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, who have been a part of the writing team of the last two films set in The Conjuring universe, The Nun II and The Conjuring: Last Rites. James Wan and Peter Safran will also be attached to produce the project.
Currently, no real information about the movie is known. It’s unclear whether the film will be a prequel or continue the story of Ed and Lorraine Warren (played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in the movies).
2025’s Last Rites seemed to be a final entry of sorts for the stars, as the film ends with the Warrens celebrating at their daughter’s (Mia Tomlinson) wedding, with Lorraine telling Ed a vision she’s had of the pair’s future.
Last Rites also introduced the characters of Judy Warren (Tomlinson) and her husband-to-be, Tony Spera (Ben Hardy). Warren, like her mother, also possessed psychic gifts in the film, so there’s a chance First Communion could be about Judy and Ben taking up Ed and Lorraine’s business of investigating the paranormal.
The Conjuring universe is also no stranger to prequels, so the movie could also take us back to an earlier time in Ed and Lorraine’s history as investigators. To date, The Conjuring universe has featured nine movies in total, dating back to the first film in the series in 2013. The series has seen a litany of spin-offs, including movies like Annabelle and The Nun, that focus on possessed items or creatures that the Warrens come into contact with in other movies.
