A divisive 2025 movie starring Rihanna is out now on Prime Video, bringing a family-friendly movie to the streaming platform.

Smurfs, the 2025 live-action animated musical fantasy comedy, is now available on Prime Video. The movie acts as a reboot of The Smurfs film series, and is directed by Chris Miller from a screenplay written by Pam Brady, based on the characters and works of Belgian comic artist Peyo.

The film was divisive upon its release. Although it has an 8% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, the movie holds a 64% score across audience members. Alongside Rihanna, the movie also stars James Corden, Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Jimmy Kimmel, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Kurt Russell, and John Goodman.

In addition to starring, Rihanna also provided a new song, “Friend of Mine,” to the film’s soundtrack. She also served as a producer alongside Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith, and Ryan Harris. It was executive-produced by Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary. During its theatrical run, the movie earned a worldwide gross of over $117 million at the box office.

“In the film, Smurfette leads the crew on a daring rescue mission to save Papa Smurf after he is mysteriously kidnapped by the evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel. The Smurfs team up with new friends on an epic adventure that takes them into the real world, where they discover that their true destiny is to save the universe,” reads the official synopsis.
