Kathleen Kennedy on if She Could Return Like Bob Iger in Future

Kathleen Kennedy has addressed whether she could one day return to lead Lucasfilm, responding to comparisons with Disney CEO Bob Iger’s comeback. As the studio prepares for a leadership change, the producer has clarified her position directly.

Kathleen Kennedy on the possibility of returning as Lucasfilm head

Kathleen Kennedy has addressed possibility about a potential return to the top role at Lucasfilm. The producer made it clear that she does not intend to be back in leadership role after stepping down. In an interview with Deadline, Kennedy firmly ruled out any scenario similar to Disney CEO Bob Iger’s exit and return, saying such a reversal is “not happening here.”

In the interview, Kennedy explained that while chose to remain at Lucasfilm slightly longer than originally planned. However, now she now feels ready to move on. “I told everybody I would stick around a bit longer than I had intended, but I am so ready to go off and have the chance to make lots of movies,” she said.

Looking ahead, Kennedy expressed a desire to focus on producing a wider range of projects. She explained, “I want to do more movies, and I want the opportunity to get back to a kind of eclectic group of movies the way I used to. I’m looking forward to working with Frank again on some stuff. He has been doing lots of documentaries and having a ball.” Kennedy also expressed particular interest in exploring new technologies.

Kennedy’s comments come as Lucasfilm undergoes a formal leadership change. After 14 years as president, she is stepping down from the role she assumed in 2012. Moving forward, Lucasfilm will be led by Dave Filoni, who has been appointed president and chief creative officer, along with co-president Lynwen Brennan, who will oversee business operations.

Meanwhile, Kennedy is set to remain involved as a producer on Lucasfilm’s upcoming theatrical releases. These include The Mandalorian and Grogu and Star Wars: Starfighter.
