Avengers: Doomsday Trailer 4 Theory Suggests Big MCU Secrets Are Being Hidden

Some MCU fans believe Marvel may have tampered with the fourth Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailer to hide characters.

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is currently in post-production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the movie will be released in the United States at the end of this year. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, then arrives in 2027.

Marvel has now released four Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailers. The first trailer revealed that Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers is returning to the MCU, while the second focused on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and the third on a handful of X-Men characters. The fourth and most recent teaser, meanwhile, puts the spotlight on Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm/The Thing, among others.

Why might MCU fans be right about Avengers: Doomsday’s 4th trailer?

On Twitter, many believe that Marvel may have digitally altered the fourth Avengers: Doomsday trailer to hide characters.

While this theory might sound a bit far-fetched, Marvel has done this before. In the marketing for 2025’s Thunderbolts* movie, Taskmaster was digitally added to a handful of scenes in the trailers in order to hide the fact that the character dies in the first act. The trailers for Spider-Man: No Way Home also digitally removed Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire from certain scenes.

Given that much of the fourth Avengers: Doomsday trailer takes place in an open desert, it’s possible that there are other people/things in this moment that will be in the final cut of the movie. Having said that, it’s also possible that this scene is set within the Void at the End of Time, which was depicted as an open desert area in Deadpool & Wolverine. Fans will have to wait until Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026, to find out for sure.

Avengers: Secret Wars, meanwhile, follows on December 17, 2027.
