5-Time Oscar Nominee Joins Daniel Craig & Cillian Murphy’s Prison Movie
Paramount Pictures has welcomed another acclaimed actor to the cast of its untitled prison movie from director Damien Chazelle. The project will be led by Golden Globe nominee Daniel Craig (Knives Out) and Oscar winner Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer), who have been attached to play the leading roles since May last year.
Who is joining Daniel Craig and Cillian Murphy’s prison movie?
According to Variety, five-time Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams has officially signed on to star opposite Craig and Murphy in Chazelle’s directorial comeback movie after the disappointing box office run of 2022’s Babylon. Further details about their characters are still under wraps. Her casting comes after her performance in FX’s Dying for Sex miniseries won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television.
The untitled movie will be written and directed by Chazelle, who’s best known for his work on the acclaimed movies such as Whiplash, La La Land, and First Man. For his work on the Emma Stone-led musical drama, he became the youngest filmmaker to win an Oscar Award for Best Director. In addition, Chazelle is also producing the project, alongside Olivia Hamilton, under their Will Chickens Productions banner.
Besides the upcoming prison movie, Williams will also next be seen in the thriller movie A Place in Hell with Daisy Edgar-Jones and Andrew Scott. Meanwhile, Murphy is set to reprise his iconic role as Thomas Shelby in Netflix’s Peaky Blinders movie The Immortal Man. As for Craig, he most recently returned as Detective Benoit Blanc in Netflix’s newest Knives Out movie, Wake Up Dead Man.
