Sequel To Blockbuster Sci-Fi Horror Movie Coming To Netflix Soon

The sequel to the hit sci-fi horror movie M3GAN is set to make its streaming debut soon on Netflix. M3GAN 2.0, which follows the fallout from the rogue artificial intelligence, has been confirmed to arrive on the streamer. 

M3GAN 2.0 will stream on Netflix this month

Netflix has confirmed that M3GAN 2.0, the follow-up to the 2022 sci-fi horror movie, will make its streaming debut later this month. The sequel is scheduled to begin streaming on January 26, 2026, as per What’s on Netflix. 

The sequel shifts the franchise in a darker direction. Set two years after the destruction of the original M3GAN, the story explores how the advanced A.I. technology survives beyond its creator’s control. That same code is secretly obtained by a defense contractor and transformed into Amelia, a next-generation weapon designed for covert military operations.

As Amelia evolves and begins to defy human authority, the situation escalates into a global threat. Faced with moral and technological dilemma, she resurrects M3GAN with significant upgrades. Allison Williams stars as Gemma Violet McGraw as Cady and Brian Jordan Alvarez as Cole. Others include Amie Donald as M3GAN, and Jen Van Epps as Tess among others.  

Critical response to M3GAN 2.0 has been mixed. The sequel currently holds a 57 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on over 244 reviews. Audience response has been more favorable, with an 81 percent rating on the platform’s Popcornmeter. Kim Newman of Sight & Sound wrote, “Directed again by Gerard Johnstone, who showed his skills with unconventional horror as far back as Housebound (2014), M3gan 2.0 is a satisfying, lively sequel.”

At the box office, the film posted modest results. According to Box Office Mojo, the movie earned roughly $24 million domestically, with international markets contributing an additional $14 million. This bring its worldwide total to approximately $39 million.

With its upcoming Netflix release, M3GAN 2.0 is expected to reach a wider audience.
