Pixar’s Hoppers gets new special look footage
Pixar and Disney recently dropped the special look teaser for their new movie, Hoppers. Clocking in at one minute, the footage begins with Dr. Sam telling the protagonist, Mabel, that their technology gives humans “unprecedented access” to the animal world.
“You created a fake animal, which makes the other animals think you’re an animal,” Mabel responds, sharing her understanding of Dr. Sam’s invention. After Sam confirms this, Mabel makes a meta-reference to Avatar by highlighting Sam’s technology’s similarities to that film’s Avatar program, which the latter vehemently denies.
After Mabel enters the animal world as a beaver, she meets other animals and introduces herself to them. Sam tries to tell Mabel she can’t let the others know she is a human. Unfortunately, the latter presses a button that the former didn’t want her to, possibly a source of communication, frustrating her.
Mabel later energetically tells the animals that they must fight back against human efforts to steal and destroy their habitat. However, Insect Queen, a butterfly, shouts, “Let’s squish the humans!” shaking Mabel’s resolve. Following this, multiple snakes shout “Squish” in unison.
The rest of the footage then shows ants and frogs preparing for a war, and something crashing into a cliff and exploding. Following this, an injured lizard remarks, “That was intense.”
The footage concludes with a man named Jerry getting scared by Mabel and another beaver who have entered his car. Mabel, sitting in the back, steals Jerry’s phone and types a message read aloud by an AI voice. The message tells Jerry his life is in danger and to do what Mabel and the other beaver says, after which he drives away quickly.
Hoppers hits theaters on March 6, 2026. In addition to directing the film, Daniel Chong also developed the story. Meanwhile, Jesse Andrews worked on the film’s screenplay.
Hoppers’ voice cast includes Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan, Jon Hamm, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Dave Franco, and Meryl Streep, among others.
