Adam Driver’s Forgotten Sci-Fi Movie Finds Unexpected Streaming Success

Adam Driver’s 2023 sci-fi thriller is drawing new attention after a surprising boost in streaming numbers on HBO Max. Following a modest theatrical run, the film has steadily climbed the platform’s numbers, signaling renewed viewer interest.

65 is a hit on HBO Max

The science fiction thriller 65 (2023), starring Adam Driver, holds the #5 spot on HBO Max’s Top 10 chart in the United States, based on FlixPatrol data from January 10–12, 2026. The film entered the platform’s trending list earlier this week and maintained a consistent position in the top five for three consecutive days. FlixPatrol tracks and ranks video-on-demand (VOD) content worldwide by measuring streaming popularity and official platform trends.

Sony Pictures released 65 on March 10, 2023. Directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods crafted a story in which a pilot, Mills, crash-lands on a mysterious planet that turns out to be Earth 65 million years ago. The plot follows Mills and a young survivor, Koa, as they navigate a perilous prehistoric landscape filled with dinosaurs. The cast features Adam Driver, Ariana Greenblatt, and Chloe Coleman.

The film had a production budget of approximately $45 million and grossed just over $60 million globally, including limited earnings from international markets. Despite this, the movie received mixed-to-negative reviews, earning a 5.4/10 rating on IMDb and 34% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is more favorable at 64%.

Trailer performance for 65 includes over 2,500 new views on the official YouTube trailer and additional traction on international promos and social media platforms. According to FlixPatrol’s tracking, the film accumulated a total of 6 daily ranking points on January 10, 11, and 12, 2026.

The movie’s HBO Max resurgence follows renewed viewer interest, despite its earlier theatrical underperformance. 65 is currently available to stream on HBO Max.
