Kate Hudson recently sat down for an interview with Buzzfeed UK, promoting her new film Song Sung Blue. The outlet brought up the fact that two popular films from the 2000s, Freaky Friday and The Devil Wears Prada, now have sequels and asked the actress if How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days will be getting a similar treatment.
“You know, it’s one of those things that comes up all the time that even Matthew and I are like, ‘Should we be doing it?’ How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days reunion,” Hudson shared, prompting Hugh Jackman, who was also in the interview, to remark, “That’d be cool.”
The Running Point star acknowledged Jackman’s remark, adding, “It just has to be right. And if it is and it happens, then we would probably do it, I think.” She then clarified that a sequel was not currently in development.
This isn’t the first time Hudson has addressed the prospect of doing a sequel to the movie. While speaking to E! News in February 2025, the Golden Globe winner shared that a sequel “would just have to be totally right.”
Also in the interview, Hudson spoke about her idea of how her character from the original film, Andie Anderson, would be in the present day. “Too wild by nature,” she stated. “Definitely, she still has great outfits, number one. She still loves dresses and Isadora diamonds.”
Before this, in a 2024 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Hudson said she and McConaughey would consider doing a sequel if they “were into the script” (via People).
McConaughey also told E! News that a sequel “could easily” be made. “And that was a really good one,” he added. “As far as romantic comedies go, that was a really good one.” The Interstellar actor continued, “And it lasts! People still love that one. I enjoyed that one quite a bit.”
