Julia Roberts Has Read Ocean’s 14 Script, Teases Exciting Details

Julia Roberts offered a glimpse into the future of the Ocean’s franchise as she shared her thoughts on the upcoming Ocean’s 14. The actress spoke ahead of the Golden Globes, revealed she read the script, and hinted at promising developments for the next installment.

What Julia Roberts said about Ocean’s 14 script

Julia Roberts confirmed she has read the script for Ocean’s 14 and said she was “kind of surprised” by how good it was. “Yes, I have seen a script,” Roberts told Variety during the Variety Golden Globes Pre-Show. “And I was kind of surprised, because I was like, ‘Oh, what is the story going to be?’ And it’s good. I mean, we wouldn’t do it if it’s not good.”

George Clooney previously said that Ocean’s 14 would likely begin filming in 2026 and that the original cast, including Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, and Julia Roberts, would return. Clooney said in 2023 that the film had a “great” script and later confirmed, “We just got the budget approved at Warner Bros., and we’re trying to set up. It’s just scheduling, so it’s just setting a start date for us. Probably start in about nine or 10 months, shooting” (via E! News).

Roberts originally played Tess Ocean in Ocean’s Eleven (2001) and Ocean’s Twelve (2004). She portrayed the ex-wife of Danny Ocean, played by George Clooney. The upcoming film would mark her first return to the franchise in over two decades.

At the 83rd Golden Globes on January 11, 2026, Roberts earned a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama. She was recognized for her role as Alma Imhoff in Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt. Roberts previously won Golden Globes for Erin Brockovich, Pretty Woman, and Steel Magnolias. She also received nominations for My Best Friend’s Wedding, Notting Hill, and August: Osage County.

Variety reported that David Leitch is in talks to direct Ocean’s 14. Warner Bros. is backing the project, with scheduling as the final step before production begins.
