Ben Affleck Dons His Underrated Batman Suit in New Photo

Zack Snyder revisited one of Batman’s most talked-about timelines by sharing a new image of Ben Affleck. The photo shows Affleck in a rarely seen version of the character. Snyder highlighted his return in what many describe as one of Batman’s most underrated suits from the Knightmare future.

Zack Snyder posted the image on Instagram with the caption, “Bruce Wayne, on the run in a broken future—hunted by Parademons and you know who. A world lost. A last gamble. One chance to send Flash back and reset everything. From Zack Snyder’s Justice League—the nightmare timeline where hope is almost extinct.”

Zack Snyder first introduced the Knightmare timeline in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and expanded it in his director’s cut of Justice League. In this storyline, Superman falls to Darkseid’s Anti-Life Equation, and Batman leads a resistance to undo the apocalyptic future.

In the new image, Ben Affleck’s Batman wears full tactical gear, matching his appearance in the Knightmare sequence. He previously appeared in this setting alongside Cyborg, Deathstroke, and the Joker during the film’s epilogue.

This post follows a series of Snyder’s Instagram uploads featuring characters from his DCEU films, including Superman, Mera, Zod, and Cyborg. These images have fueled continued fan interest in the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse campaign.

In a 2024 interview with CBR, Snyder also commented on the future of the DCU, stating, “I really feel like, you know, if the characters are treated with reverence, and mythologically correct, then I’m down. I’m in.” He made the remark in response to a question about what he hopes to see from DC Studios’ new leadership.

Last year, Affleck also reflected on his Batman role, saying, “I loved doing the Batman movie… I really think that I like the idea and the ambition that I had for it, which was of the sort of older, broken, damaged Bruce Wayne” (via GQ). He noted that the tone of the portrayal began to skew too dark for younger audiences.
