Netflix Orders 2 New Movies From Popular Author
Netflix has ordered two new movies in their ongoing partnership with popular author Emily Henry, with two more of her novels set to be turned into movies.
What new movies has Netflix ordered from Emily Henry?
Ahead of the launch of Netflix’s adaptation of her novel People We Meet on Vacation, Netflix announced that even more Henry adaptations are on the way. The streamer picked up the movie adaptation of her 2024 book Funny Story, and is turning the in-development adaptation of her 2023 novel Happy Place from a TV series into a film, according to Variety.
Happy Place, which is already in development, follows the story of couple Harriet and Wyn, “who pretend to still be together for one last summer trip with their best friends at a Maine beach house while struggling with the tension of their broken engagement,” according to the description of the book.
Funny Story “is a shimmering, joyful tale about a pair of opposites with the wrong thing in common. The story follows Daphne, a children’s librarian coping with her broken engagement to Peter, who realized too late that he loved his childhood best friend, Petra. Stranded in her ex’s lakeside hometown, Daphne becomes roommates with Petra’s ex, Miles, and despite their differences, they form a tenuous friendship and a plan to get back at…or with their exes,” reads the book’s synopsis.
Neither project has been cast as of yet, with no official directors attached to the project either. Henry’s books have been quite popular for movie studios recently. Outside of her deal with Netflix, the author also has adaptations of her books Beach Read and Book Lovers set up with other studios.
