When is the release date for Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom?

The teaser trailer confirmed that Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom will officially arrive in U.S. theaters later this year on Halloween. The movie will release just in time for Aardman Animations‘ upcoming 50th anniversary celebration this year. At the moment, further details about its plot are still under wraps, but the teaser trailer unveiled a glimpse of the movie’s titular new character.

“We are so excited! I have been an Aardman super-fan since the earliest days of the studio, from the Academy Award-winning Creature Comforts and original Wallace & Gromit shorts, through Rex the Runt, Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, and, of course, the beloved Shaun the Sheep,” GKIDS founder and CEO Eric Beckman said in a statement (via Variety).

“For decades, Aardman has forged a unique place in the hearts of fans by infusing so much love, humor, and humanity into the hand-crafted art of stop-motion. Aardman is absolutely one-of-a-kind, and we could not be more thrilled to be working together at long last.”

The movie is directed by Steve Cox and Matthew Walker, with Mark Burton and Giles Pilbrow writing the screenplay. The third installment will feature the return of Justin Fletcher, John Sparkes, and Kate Harbour, who have been playing the respective roles of Shaun, Timmy, the Farmer, Bitzer, Timmy’s mother, and Merly since the first movie in 2015. It was based on the popular British animated series created by Nick Park and Aardman Animations.

Aardman MD Sean Clarke added, “We have been longtime friends and fans of GKIDS. Their unparalleled track record in bringing acclaimed international animation to American audiences makes them an ideal partner for us, and we are excited to be working together to bring Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom to American audiences this Halloween.”
