This Hilarious Thunderbolts* Scene Wasn’t Meant To Be in the Film
Marvel Studios has shared new insight into an unexpected moment from Thunderbolts* that made it into the final film. The reveal highlights that filmmakers kept an unplanned scene involving Bucky Barnes that occurred during filming in the finished cut.
Marvel reveals a fun fact about Bucky’s arm scene in Thunderbolts*
A post from Marvel Entertainment on X (formerly Twitter) features a behind-the-scenes moment from a Thunderbolts* movie scene. The video shows Ghost, portrayed by Hannah John-Kamen, interacting with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and reads, “While filming, actor Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost) actually forgot to hand Bucky’s arm back. They kept the moment in the final cut.”
The film, released on May 2, 2025, in the United States, is approaching its one-year anniversary. It features Sebastian Stan reprising his role as Bucky Barnes. This BTS moment shows that the film included spontaneous or character-driven humor that the cast didn’t plan during production. Marvel’s official post confirms they kept the blooper in the final cut, allowing it to appear in the released version of the film.
Stan will also appear in another upcoming Marvel movie, Avengers: Doomsday, which currently remains in post-production. Joe and Anthony Russo directed the film, and Marvel Studios scheduled its theatrical release in the United States for December 18, 2026.
Fans believe Bucky won’t survive Avengers: Doomsday. They base this on reports that Sebastian Stan is in talks to join Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2, a DC Studios project set for release on October 1, 2027. Jeff Sneider stated, “Was told last night that Reeves had found his Dent,” referring to Harvey Dent/Two-Face. He supported this claim by posting an image of Two-Face and linking it to Stan’s reported casting.
The Batman 2 will premiere between Avengers: Doomsday and 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars. Scarlett Johansson has reportedly joined the cast in an undisclosed role, while Barry Keoghan is expected to return as the Joker.
