Netflix’s New Ben Affleck, Greta Gerwig, & Brad Bird Movies Get Exciting Updates

Acclaimed filmmaker Ben Affleck, Greta Gerwig, and Brad Bird‘s upcoming Netflix movies have finally received major updates. Gerwig and Bird’s upcoming projects served as their first collaboration with Netflix, while Affleck has already worked with the streamer in 2019’s all-star action movie Triple Frontier and in the upcoming crime drama The Rip.

What are the new updates for Ben Affleck, Greta Gerwig, and Brad Bird’s Netflix movies?

Netflix has officially confirmed that Affleck’s crime thriller Animals, Gerwig’s epic fantasy Narnia, and Bird’s sci-fi action animated movie Ray Gunn will be part of the streamer’s 2026 slate. The highly anticipated new adaptation of Narnia is expected to make its debut in December 2026. As for Animals and Ray Gunn, both movies have no specific release date window yet for their 2026 releases.

Animals is directed and produced by Affleck, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Connor O. McIntyre and Billy Ray. The ensemble cast also includes Kerry Washington, Gillian Anderson, Adriana Paz, Ray Fisher, Matt Gerald, Luis Gerardo Méndez, and Steven Yeun. Executive producers are Michael Beugg, Kevin Halloran, Michael Joe, Graham Taylor, Chris Rice, Christopher Slager, and Dan Guando. It is produced by Brad Weston, Collin Creighton, Matt Damon, Dani Bernfeld, and Luciana Damon.

“When their son is kidnapped, a Los Angeles mayoral candidate and his wife find themselves drawn into a web of deception. As they scramble to raise the ransom payment, they’re forced to make choices that could tear their world apart,” reads the Animals’ synopsis.

Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew is written and directed by Gerwig, based on C.S. Lewis’ classic children’s novel series. So far, the acclaimed filmmaker has assembled a star-studded cast consisting of Emma Mackey, Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, and Meryl Streep as the voice of Aslan. This marks Mackey and Streep’s latest collaboration with Gerwig after previously working together on Barbie and Little Women, respectively. The adaptation is produced by Gerwig, Amy Pascal, Mark Gordon, and Vincent Sieber-Smith, with Douglas Gresham, Melvin Adams, and Patty Whitcher serving as executive producers.

Ray Gunn is described as a neo-noir sci-fi action animated movie. Bird directed the movie, which he also wrote and developed with Matthew Robbins. The story will reportedly center around the last human private detective in a futuristic world, where humans and aliens co-exist. It is produced by John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Lisa Beroud. It hails from Skydance Animation.
