Avengers: Doomsday Fans Are Worried X-Men’s Leader Will Die Yet Again
The X-Men-centric teaser for Avengers: Doomsday was recently released online, and some fans are concerned about a beloved character’s fate. While the clip further fueled hype surrounding the X-Men’s return, the threat posed by Doctor Doom has made fans afraid of the possibility of a fan-favorite being killed off in the film. Notably, Marvel has killed off this mutant in previous live-action films multiple times, which makes fans’ fears understandable.

X-Men fans think Marvel will kill off Charles again
Marvel Studios and The Russo Brothers recently dropped the Avengers: Doomsday X-Men teaser that played in theaters last week online. In the teaser, Professor X delivers an ominous line, “Death comes for us all.”
Fans have since shared their concerns that Charles may not make it out of the movie alive. These fears are heightened by the fact that Marvel killed off the wheelchair-bound telepath several times in his previous live-action film appearances.
Counting all of his live-action film appearances, Professor X was killed off a total of four times.
His first death is depicted in X-Men: The Last Stand. During a violent confrontation with Jean Grey at her home, the latter transforms into the Phoenix and destroys Xavier. However, the post-credits scene shows he seemingly survived by transferring his consciousness into the body of a comatose man.
He was next killed off in X-Men: Days of the Future Past. After sending Wolverine back in time to change history by preventing Bolivar Trask’s assassination, hoping to avert a disastrous event for humans and mutants alike, a Sentinel vaporizes Professor X. However, his demise is averted after Wolverine becomes successful in his mission and creates a new timeline.
Professor X’s third death is shown in Logan. In the film, an elderly version of the character, one of the two surviving X-Men members alongside Wolverine, is killed after the latter’s clone, X-24, stabs him while he is sleeping.
Charles Xavier dies for the fourth time in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In the film, he is a member of the Illuminati. Scarlet Witch snaps Xavier’s neck while he is trying to free Earth-838 Wanda from her control, killing him in the real world.
Avengers: Doomsday premieres in theaters on December 18, 2026.
