The Batman 2: More on Sebastian Stan’s Role & DC Villain’s Return
Some new information regarding the villains in The Batman 2 has come to light.
Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios’ The Batman 2, also known as The Batman Part II, will be released in United States theaters in 2027. A sequel to 2022’s The Batman, the movie will once again be directed by Matt Reeves. Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne, while Scarlett Johansson has also been cast in an undisclosed role.
What is the update on The Batman 2?
Earlier today, news broke that Sebastian Stan, known for playing Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier in the MCU, was in talks to join the cast of The Batman 2. No details regarding who Stan is being eyed to play were revealed in the article shared by Deadline.
According to insider Jeff Sneider, however, Stan is seemingly circling the role of Harvey Dent/Two-Face. Sneider wrote after the story about Stan’s casting broke, “Was told last night that Reeves had found his Dent. Was gonna start asking this morning… but I was too slow!”
Yesterday, Sneider posted a picture of Two-Face with no further context. He then retweeted that image with the Stan casting news. While there’s been no official announcement from DC at this time, it appears that Harvey Dent is coming to Reeves’ Batman Epic Crime Saga.
Additionally, Sneider also said that Barry Keoghan is expected to return as the Joker in Batman 2. Variety’s article about Stan’s casting also mentions that Keoghan is “expected to appear once more” as the Joker.
Official plot details for The Batman 2 remain heavily under wraps at this time. With a script co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, The Batman 2 is currently dated for October 1, 2027. The Batman and the spin-off TV show The Penguin, meanwhile, are currently streaming on HBO Max.
