The Batman 2 Cast: Another MCU Star Circling DC Movie

Another huge MCU star is in talks to join the cast of The Batman 2.

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Batman 2, also known as The Batman Part II, arrives in United States theaters in 2027. A sequel to 2022’s The Batman, the film is once again being directed by Matt Reeves. It will see Robert Pattinson reprise his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne, while Scarlett Johansson — known for playing Black Widow in the MCU — has been cast in an undisclosed role.

Who is in talks to join the cast of The Batman 2?

Per Deadline, it has now been announced that Sebastian Stan is in talks to join the cast of The Batman 2.

Stan is best known for playing Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier in the MCU. After recently starring in Thunderbolts*, he’ll soon reprise that role in Avengers: Doomsday, which arrives later this year. Stan received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his performance as Donald Trump in 2024’s The Apprentice, while he also earned an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for 2022’s Pam & Tommy.

Beyond that and other MCU projects, Stan’s filmography includes 2010’s Black Swan, 2015’s The Martian, 2017’s Logan Lucky, 2017’s I, Tonya, 2018’s We Have Always Lived in the Castle, 2020’s The Devil All the Time, 2023’s Dumb Money, and 2024’s A Different Man, among other titles.

There’s no word on who Stan might be playing in The Batman 2 as of yet. Plot details for the film remain highly under wraps at this time.

The Batman Part II is expected to begin production this coming spring. The film, which is co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, currently has an October 1, 2027, release date. The Batman, meanwhile, is currently available to stream on HBO Max.
