Rush Hour 4 Report Gives Great Production & Release Date Update

A new report has shared an update on the Rush Hour 4 release date window, giving fans a clearer update on when the long-awaited sequel could arrive. The update also outlines where the project currently stands behind the scenes, including progress on financing and filming

Rush Hour 4 could begin filming in spring or summer 2026

Rush Hour 4 is reportedly moving closer to production. New industry reports indicate that filming could begin in spring or summer 2026. While the project has not yet received an official green light, recent developments suggest that the film is moving forward.

According to Matthew Belloni of Puck News, Paramount is in discussions to distribute the film domestically, with plans for a wide theatrical release across roughly 4,000 theaters. This commitment is reportedly a requirement from Warner Bros., which controls the franchise rights.

The film’s budget is expected to exceed $100 million, with producer Tarak Ben Ammar playing key role in securing financing. Belloni wrote, “Producer Tarak Ben Ammar, along with Ratner’s guy Bahman Naraghi, have raised about $100 million from various sources and are communicating to all involved that a shoot in the spring or summer is likely.”

Despite the progress on financing and distribution, deals with franchise stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker have not yet been finalized. Belloni wrote, “That budget might be tough to hit considering Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker both made more than $20 million for Rush Hour 3 (though they didn’t have salary parity).”

He added, “And while it is no longer 2007 and everyone involved in this project really really wants it to happen, the producers do not have deals with Chan or Tucker, giving them a little leverage now that the project has been revealed publicly. Trump also wants this to happen.”

If the project moves forward, filming is expected to take place across several international locations, including China, Africa, and Saudi Arabia.

This follows a previous report by Puck’s Kim Masters, in which Ratner clarified that Muse Films has no involvement in Rush Hour 4.
