The Housemaid 2 Gets the Best Verdict From Star After Box Office Success

Following its strong theatrical performance, The Housemaid is now fueling discussion about a sequel. Most recently, one of the film’s stars offered a positive comment about the future of the film series. The film’s box office performance has shifted attention toward a potential sequel, The Housemaid 2.

Amanda Seyfried guarantees The Housmaid 2 will happen, talks return

Amanda Seyfried has fueled expectations for a sequel to The Housemaid, indicating that a second film is a real possibility.

Speaking with Variety during a recent appearance at the 2026 Palm Springs International Film Festival, the actress noted that a sequel has not been formally announced. However, she believes that the project will move forward. “No one’s said anything about number 2, but I guarantee there will be number 2,” she said. Seyfried also hinted that her character could reappear, even if only briefly. She added, “And I almost guarantee that I’m gonna be some small cameo in it.”

The feature was directed by Paul Feig and adapted from Freida McFadden’s bestselling 2022 novel. McFadden’s book series includes two follow-ups: The Housemaid’s Secret and The Housemaid Is Watching.

Seyfried referenced the second novel when discussing the story’s future. “It’s about Syd and her working for a new family. There’s so much that happens, especially with Michele’s character Enzo,” the actress said. She also added, “I really want to see how she keeps Nina Winchester in her pocket, because I will jump the f— back into that.”

Support for a second installment has also come from Sweeney. In an interview with PEOPLE, she said, “I would be just as happy as everyone else being able to see more Housemaids come to life and getting to explore more of Millie.”

The 2025 psychological thriller stars Sydney Sweeney as Millie Calloway, a woman who secures work as a live-in nanny for a wealthy family. Seyfried portrayed the role of the wife, Nina Winchester. The film quickly became a big box office hit, earning approximately $133 million so far.

As of now, the studio has not confirmed a sequel.
