Kathleen Kennedy’s Lucasfilm Replacement Has Been Found, Claims Report

Speculation surrounding a Kathleen Kennedy replacement at Lucasfilm has gained traction following a recent industry report. It suggests that plans to replace Kennedy may already be in place. As of now, Disney and Lucasfilm have not made any formal announcement. However, the claim has sparked widespread discussion.

Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan reportedly replacing Kathleen Kennedy at Lucasfilm

A new report from Puck News suggests Lucasfilm may soon undergo a major leadership change, with Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan expected to take on expanded roles at the studio.

According to industry reporter Matthew Belloni, Disney will soon confirm that Kennedy will step down as president of Lucasfilm. He wrote, “In the next week or two, Disney will finally confirm what we’ve all known for months: Kathleen Kennedy is indeed stepping down as Lucasfilm president.”

Under the new arrangement, Filoni would reportedly assume responsibility for guiding the “creative direction” of the Star Wars franchise. Meanwhile, Brennan, Lucasfilm’s president and general manager, would continue to oversee business operations.

Belloni wrote, “Filoni has never really been a traditional executive, so they’re giving him a partner in Lynwen Brennan, currently president and general manager of Lucasfilm Business, but he’ll be the decider on the creative direction of the franchise in film, television, and any other platforms in the galaxy.”

As of now, no official statement has been issued by Lucasfilm or Kennedy regarding the report.

Speculation about Kennedy’s future at the company has circulated since early 2025. She has led Lucasfilm since 2012, following Disney’s acquisition of the company. During her tenure, she oversaw multiple Star Wars theatrical releases and the franchise’s expansion into streaming. At that time, Belloni reported, “Kathleen Kennedy has informed Disney, as well as friends and associates, that she will exit as Lucasfilm president by the end of the year.”

However, in a February 2025 interview with Deadline, Kennedy said, “I am not retiring.” She emphasized that she has been working with Disney executives for a long-term succession plan.
