One of A24’s most divisive movies is officially available on Netflix beginning today, and stars Andrew Garfield alongside a handful of other big stars.

2018’s Under the Silver Lake is officially on Netflix beginning today. The film was directed by David Robert Mitchell (It Follows), and follows the story of a young man (Garfield) who begins investigating the sudden disappearance of his neighbor.

The investigation leads him to down a rabbit hole of conspiracy spanning across all of Los Angeles and the world. Alongside Garfield, Under the Silver Lake also stars Riley Keough, Topher Grace, Callie Hernandez, Don McManus, and more.

The movie originally premiered at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, where it competed for the Palme d’Or. However, upon its release, the film was met with rather polarizing reactions. While some fans loved the outrageous story and wild moments, many found it to be too bizarre with an ending that felt too normal for how the movie was portraying itself.

Despite the middling reaction, Under the Silver Lake has developed a cult following in the years since its release. Many fans to this day believe that the film still contains various meta-clues, codes, and ciphers that have yet to be discovered.
