Gerard Butler Travels Across Post-Apocalyptic World in Greenland 2: Migration Trailer

Lionsgate has released a new Greenland 2: Migration trailer, revealing the final look at the upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller starring Gerard Butler. Greenland 2: Migration is set to release in theaters on January 9, 2026.

“In the aftermath of a comet strike that decimated most of the earth, Greenland 2: Migration follows the Garrity family (Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, and Roman Griffin Davis) as they’re forced to leave the safety of their bunker in Greenland to traverse a shattered world in search of a new home,” reads the film’s official synopsis.

What happens in the Greenland 2: Migration trailer?

The Greenland 2: Migration trailer sees the Garrity family forced to leave their bunker to find a new place to live. Doing so, however, is easier said than done, as rebuilding a shattered planet quickly proves to be a difficult task.

Greenland 2: Migration is the sequel to 2020’s Greenland, and stars Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, and Roman Griffin Davis. The original film saw Butler and Baccarin as parents trying to make it to a bunker as the Earth is set to experience an extinction-level event.

Both films are directed by Ric Roman Waugh, with Mitchell LaFortune and Chris Sparling writing the second film (Sparling also wrote the first film).

“It’ll be about who survived and how they rebuild the earth when everything has been completely burned to the ground,” Waugh previously told Collider. “It’s a beautiful way to give closure to the Garritys’ story and show where they go from here. So, do you call it a sequel? Yes — but to me, it’s more like the final chapter of what this story has to say.”
