By the Grape of God Trailer Previews Religious Wine Movie | Exclusive
ComingSoon is excited to debut the By the Grape of God trailer for the religious wine movie featuring Reservoir Dogs star Kirk Baltz and Sean Szatkowski. Shot on location in California’s Central Coast vineyards, the film follows two priests as they grapple with an identity crisis while seeking the perfect communion wine. The film will have its world premiere at Dances With Films New York on Saturday, January 17, at Regal Union Square at 5:15 p.m. ET.
“Jaded priest Thomas (Kirk Baltz) and his protégé Christopher (Sean Szatkowski) head to California wine country to find the holy grail of communion wines to revive their dwindling parish. When Thomas learns that Christopher received a sign from God to become a priest, he’s rattled and issues God an ultimatum: give him a sign this weekend, or he’s done with the priesthood,” says the official description.
“The priests’ quest is further derailed as they over-indulge in tastings, attempt wine yoga, and drop into local church services to scope out the competition. Along the way, the priests cross paths with an intriguing cast of characters that challenge the foundations of their faith. As their friendship and their identities start to crack, the weekend spirals into acid trips, basketball showdowns, and even romance. By the weekend’s end, each priest has to decide what path truly calls to them.”

Directed by Colmcille Donston in his directorial debutand written by Kevin Hickey, By the Grape of God also stars Melanie Mahanna, Olivia Lodge, Holden Goyette, Santeon Brown, Jan Milewicz, Jonathan Fishman, Tristian Kinney, and Kasian Wick. It is produced by Marisa Laurance, Hickey, and Szatkowski.
“On the surface, it can seem like By the Grape of God is meant to be a study of Catholicism, and while it certainly still does that, it’s really a study of faith,” say Donston and Hickey. “What does faith mean to someone? How can that differ between people? What do we do in the face of having our faith tested?”
Tickets are now available for the world premiere.
