Matt Damon & Ben Affleck Star in Netflix Action Movie The Rip Trailer
Netflix has finally shared the official trailer for The Rip, its newest action thriller led by Academy Award-winning duo Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. The movie is scheduled to start streaming on January 16, 2026.
“Upon discovering millions in cash in a derelict stash house, trust among a team of Miami cops begins to fray. As outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything is called into question — including who they can rely on,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in The Rip trailer?
The video introduces Affleck as Detective Sergeant J.D. Byrne and Damon as Lieutenant Dane Dumars. They are Miami cops who suddenly discover secret stashes of money that are worth over $20 million. This major find leads them to question whether they could trust the people within their team and the police force. It highlights some of the movie’s intense sequences as Dumars and Byrne try to figure out their next move.
The Rip is written and directed by Joe Carnahan, based on a story by Carnahan and Michael McGrale, which was inspired by true events. The ensemble cast also includes Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler.
In addition to leading the cast, Affleck and Damon are also serving as producers alongside Dani Bernfeld and Luciana Damon. Executive producers are Kevin Halloran and Michael Joe for Artists Equity. The creative team consists of production designer Judy Becker, director of photography Juan Miguel Azpiroz, costume designer Kelli Jones, and composer Clinton Shorter.
