Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire to stream on Hulu this month

Hulu is set to add Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, starring Paul Rudd, to its streaming catalog later this month. The film is scheduled to debut on the platform on January 22, 2026, according to Comic Book.com. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire was directed by Gil Kenan, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jason Reitman.

Set in New York City, the story follows Gary Grooberson and the Spengler family as they settle into the iconic Ghostbusters firehouse. As they work to rebuild the ghostbusting operation, their plans are disrupted by the discovery of a mysterious ancient artifact, which unleashes a powerful and dangerous force. With the threat escalating toward a global catastrophe, both old and new Ghostbusters are forced to join forces once again.

The ensemble cast includes Paul Rudd as Gary Grooberson, Carrie Coon as Callie Spengler, Finn Wolfhard as Trevor Spengler, McKenna Grace as Phoebe Spengler, and Kumail Nanjiani as Nadeem Razmaadi, among others.

Upon release, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire received a mixed critical response. The film currently holds a 42 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 304 reviews. Meanwhile, audience reception has been notably stronger, resulting in an 81 percent Popcornmeter rating.

Marissa Hill of Shade Studios wrote, “Frozen Empire will hit the right notes for the fans who want to see the Ghostbusters in action again, but for the rest of us who wanted a more daring, original entry, it’s just another sequel that feels a bit too frosted over.”

The film performed well at the global box office. According to Box Office Mojo, it generated just over $200 million worldwide, including approximately $113 million from domestic theaters and about $88 million internationally.
