Tom Hanks Thriller Based on Dan Brown Novel Coming to Hulu Soon
The action mystery thriller movie Inferno, based on a popular novel by Dan Brown and starring Tom Hanks in the lead role, will soon start streaming on Hulu. Released in 2016, the movie is the third entry in the Robert Langdon film series and serves as a sequel to The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. Oscar-winning filmmaker Ron Howard returned to direct Inferno after helming the franchise’s previous two movies.
Tom Hanks-led Inferno to stream on Hulu this month
Inferno will start streaming on Hulu on January 9, 2026. The movie had its world premiere at the New Opera Theater in Florence, Italy, on October 8, 2016. It debuted in US theaters on October 28, 2016. While it performed considerably well at the global box office, it garnered largely negative responses from critics on release and currently has a 23% approval rating on the review-aggregating site Rotten Tomatoes after 251 reviews.
Ron Howard directed the movie from a script by David Koepp, who developed it based on Brown’s 2013 novel of the same name. The cast includes Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon, Felicity Jones as Dr. Sienna Brooks, Omar Sy as Christophe Bouchard, Ben Foster as Bertrand Zobrist, Irrfan Khan as Harry “The Provost” Sims, Sidse Babett Knudsen as Dr. Elizabeth Sinskey, Paul Ritter as CRC Tech Arbogast, and Ana Ularu as Vayentha.
Like other movies in the series, Inferno revolves around Hanks’ Langdon, who serves as a professor of symbology at Harvard University. After waking up in a hospital in Florence, Langdon realizes that he has no memories of the previous few days. However, he soon finds himself nearly overwhelmed by hellish visions. Teaming up with Dr. Brooks, Langdon embarks on a desperate journey to stop the release of a cataclysmic virus.
Together, the Robert Langdon movies grossed over a billion dollars at the global box office, despite their generally poor reception from critics and their controversial subject matter.
