Avengers: Doomsday’s Teaser 2 Shows the Strongest OG Avenger’s Beloved Look
Marvel Studios has released the 2nd teaser for Avengers: Doomsday, now playing in theaters ahead of Avatar: Fire and Ash. The new footage features a returning Avenger and confirms a familiar emotional thread from his recent past.
Love and Thunder return in Avengers: Doomsday’s second teaser
Following the 1st teaser’s confirmation of Steve Rogers’ return, the 2nd one is all about another veteran: Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. The latest one presents a somber and reflective God of Thunder, marking a significant emotional shift for the character.
Visually, the 2nd Avengers: Doomsday teaser shows Thor with his short hair, a clear callback to his appearance in Avengers: Infinity War. He is seen walking alone through a massive forest before stopping to pray to his late father, Odin, and the All-Fathers. The tone is serious and restrained, setting this teaser apart from the lighter style of Thor: Love and Thunder.
As Thor gives an emotional monologue about fate and responsibility, the trailer cuts to him sitting beside Love in bed. Love, played by Hemsworth’s real-life daughter India Rose Hemsworth, was last seen at the end of Love and Thunder. In it, Thor adopted her following the death of her father, Gorr the God Butcher. Her appearance confirms that Love will continue to be part of Thor’s story in Avengers: Doomsday.
Thor appears fully aware of the danger ahead, pleading for the chance to “defeat one more enemy” and “return home” to his child. The teaser shows him kneeling with Stormbreaker in hand, closing his prayer with the line, “I beg you, father, hear my prayer.”
The teaser concludes by reaffirming Thor’s return in Avengers: Doomsday. Then followed by the Avengers logo fading into view and a countdown to the film’s release. The upcoming film is going to be the fifth Avengers installment and the third theatrical release in Marvel Studios’ Phase 6. It will feature a multiverse-spanning battle led by Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. (via The Direct). Releasing in theaters on December 18, 2026.
