Succession’s Kieran Culkin’s Next Movie Is a Reunion 30 Years in the Making

Kieran Culkin is set to reunite with filmmaker Nancy Meyers for his next feature film. This marks their first collaboration in more than three decades since the Father of the Bride movies. Meyers recently confirmed the casting while revealing that the project is scheduled to begin shooting soon.

Nancy Meyers says Kieran Culkin will star in her next movie

Nancy Meyers has confirmed that Kieran Culkin will star in her next feature film, marking her return to directing after nearly a decade. The filmmaker shared the update during a recent Father of the Bride screening event in Los Angeles, where she said the project is scheduled to begin filming in May. According to Vulture, the project is being developed for theatrical release.

Meyers did not reveal the film’s title or storyline, but the announcement has fueled speculation that the project could be Paris Paramount, a romantic comedy she previously developed at Netflix. The romantic comedy was previously in development at Netflix, where it was initially approved before falling apart due to budget negotiations. The streamer reportedly declined to move forward after a higher production budget was requested, leaving the project shelved since 2023.

As of now, Meyers has not confirmed whether Paris Paramount is the film now moving forward. However, previously she wrote, “the movie is about a group of people making a film and the magic and mystery of what we do.”

An earlier version of the project was attached to a different cast, though those names are no longer believed to be involved. At this stage, Culkin is the only actor publicly confirmed.

The upcoming film also reunites Meyers and Culkin, who worked together earlier in his career on Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride Part II. They last worked together more than 30 years ago, making this a notable reunion.

Meyers is best known for a string of successful romantic comedies, including The Holiday, Something’s Gotta Give, It’s Complicated, and The Parent Trap. Her most recent film was The Intern in 2015.
