Prime Video Adds Stunning Sci-Fi Movie From Star Wars Director Today

20th Century Studios’ Academy Award-nominated sci-fi action movie from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards has finally found a new streaming home. Two years after it debuted on Disney+ and Hulu, Edwards’ The Creator movie starring John David Washington is now officially available to stream on Prime Video.

“Amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua, a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife, is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war. . . and mankind itself,” reads the official synopsis. “Joshua and his team of elite operatives journey across enemy lines, into the dark heart of AI-occupied territory . . . only to discover the world-ending weapon he’s been instructed to destroy is an AI in the form of a young child.”

The Creator was directed and produced by Edwards (Godzilla, Jurassic World Rebirth) from a screenplay he co-wrote with Chris Weitz. The film also starred Gemma Chan, Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson, Madeleine Yuna Voyles, Allison Janney, Ralph Ineson, and more. It was produced by Kiri Hart, Jim Spencer, and Arnon Milchan, with Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Natalie Lehmann, Nick Meyer, and Zev Foreman serving as executive producers.

The epic sci-fi movie currently holds a Popcornmeter rating of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes. It also received two nominations at the 96th Academy Awards in 2024 for Best Visual Effects and Best Sound.
