The Asylum has released a new trailer for their latest mockbuster, The Anacondas, an action movie about a group of explorers coming face-to-face with an ancient snake. The Anacondas is set to release in theaters on Christmas, and is available on VOD today.
“Explorers in Mexico uncover the ruins of an ancient snake-worshiping civilization. Celebration turns to horror when they awaken an ever-growing anaconda, starved of human sacrifices for centuries. Now, the team must band together to survive,” reads the film’s official synopsis.

What happens in The Anacondas trailer?
The trailer follows a group of explorers investigating the possible ruins of Quetzalcoatl, a major deity in ancient Mesoamerican cultures. The group find the temple, but awaken an ancient snake that they now must try and get away from.
The Anacondas is directed by Marcel Walz, from a script written by Ryan Ebert. The film stars Dominic Keating, Danielle Titus, and Bix Krieger. The Asylum co-founder David Michael Latt is also attached to the project as a producer.
The film, which is a mockbuster of the horror movie Anaconda, releases in conjunction with the upcoming reboot of the movie, which stars Paul Rudd and Jack Black. For those familiar with The Asylum, this should come as no surprise, as the distributor often releases films to go along with other major blockbusters.
Previous films from The Asylum include the Sharknado series, the Syfy original series Z Nation, as well as mockbusters of films like Thor: Love and Thunder, Bullet Train, and Avatar: The Way of Water.
