Leonardo DiCaprio & Jennifer Lawrence’s New Movie Adds Oscar Nominee

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence are set to star in Martin Scorsese‘s next film, an adaptation of Peter Cameron’s novel What Happens at Night. The trio are also set to be joined by another Oscar nominee for the movie as well.

Who has joined Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence’s upcoming movie?

According to a report from World of Reel, Oscar-nominated cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto is attached to the project to join Scorsese. Prieto is a longtime collaborator of Scorsese, having filmed his last four films, including The Wolf of Wall Street, Silence, The Irishman, and Killers of the Flower Moon. Prieto has also worked with a litany of high-profile directors, including Ang Lee, Spike Lee, Pedro Almodóvar, Alejandro González Iñárritu, and Greta Gerwig.

What Happens at Night will be directed by Scorsese from a screenplay written by Patrick Marber. Besides DiCaprio, the movie will also star Jennifer Lawrence, who previously worked with the Titanic actor on the 2021 comedy Don’t Look Up. Even though Scorsese is serving as a producer on Lawrence’s Die, My Love movie, the upcoming project will be the first time that the acclaimed filmmaker will be directing Lawrence.

In a recent interview with one another as part of an Actors on Actors series, DiCaprio also opened up on what Lawrence could expect working with the legendary figure for the first time. Apple Original Films is in negotiations to finance and produce the projects alongside StudioCanal.

“The story follows a married American couple who travel to a small, snowy European town to adopt a baby. They check into a cavernous, largely deserted hotel where they encounter an enigmatic cast of characters, including a flamboyant chanteuse, a depraved businessman, and a charismatic faith healer,” reads the movie’s initial synopsis (via Deadline). “Nothing is quite as it seems in this strange, frozen world. As the couple struggles to claim their baby, the less they seem to know about themselves and the life they’ve built together.”
