Disney+ & Hulu Break Surprising Guinness World Record

Disney+ and Hulu have just become title holders after breaking a Guinness World Record. This is actually a part of the streaming platforms’ 35th anniversary celebration of Macaulay Culkin‘s iconic Christmas comedy Home Alone.

What Guinness World Records title did Disney+ and Hulu break?

In honor of the 1990 classic movie, Disney+ and Hulu constructed the world’s largest gingerbread house to recreate the famous McCallister home. Measuring 44,838 cubic feet, an official judge from the Guinness World Records officially verified that the McCallister gingerbread house has officially set a new world record, breaking the previous record of 39,201.8 cubic feet held by Traditions Gold Club‘s gingerbread house in 2013.

The creation was built in only 8 days. It stands at a whopping 34 feet long, 58 feet wide, and over 22 feet tall, and is constructed out of 4,200 gingerbread brick tiles and almost 1,800 roof tiles. It was made from 7,350 pounds of all-purpose flour and over 6,600 eggs, all held together with 20 gallons of edible glue and finished with 10 pounds of fondant.

The Home Alone franchise began with the 1990 original starringĀ Macaulay Culkin, which went on to become the highest-grossing film of that year, bringing in $476.6 million worldwide. Directed by Chris Columbus and conceived by John Hughes, the film went on to become a franchise with six total films, only two of which starred Culkin. The last entry was the Home Sweet Home Alone reboot in 2012, which debuted on Disney+.

The McCallister Gingerbread House is currently open to the public tonight at the Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles, California.
