2025’s Best Movie Arrives on HBO Max Today

Considered one of the best movies of 2025, the latest black comedy action thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio has just been added to HBO Max‘s library. This comes nearly three months after the star-studded movie had its successful theatrical release.

What Leonardo DiCaprio movie is now available on HBO Max today?

Beginning today, DiCaprio’s One Battle After Another is officially available for streaming, exclusively on HBO Max. It will then be available for purchase on 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD on January 20, 2026. During its theatrical run, it received a worldwide gross of over $204 million at the box office, making it director Paul Thomas Anderson’s highest-grossing movie to date.

One Battle After Another was written and directed by Anderson. The ensemble cast also features Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Alana Haim, Teyana Taylor, Wood Harris, Benicio del Toro, D.W. Moffett, Chase Infiniti, John Hoogenakker, and more. The movie currently holds a Certified Fresh rating of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 420 reviews. It recently scored nine major Golden Globe nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Screenplay.

“In the film, Bob is a washed-up revolutionary who lives in a state of stoned paranoia, surviving off-grid with his spirited and self-reliant daughter, Willa. When his evil nemesis resurfaces, and Willa goes missing, the former radical scrambles to find her as both father and daughter battle the consequences of their pasts,” reads the official synopsis.

At the moment, DiCaprio is attached to star in Michael Mann’s long-awaited Heat 2 movie with Christian Bale and in Martin Scorsese’s film adaptation of Peter Cameron’s novel What Happens at Night with Jennifer Lawrence. Both projects are currently in the pre-production phase and have no target release dates yet.
