What else do we know about The Odyssey?

An adaptation of Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey tells the story of Odysseus (Damon), the King of Ithaca, and his journey to get home after the Trojan War.

Per Entertainment Weekly, “That journey isn’t an easy one: Along the way, he encounters mythical creatures, including the cyclops Polyphemus, as well as the seduce-to-death-by-song Sirens, and the witch Circe, who infamously turned Odysseus’ men into pigs.”

The cast of the movie also includes Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, John Leguizamo, Himesh Patel, Mia Goth, Lupita Nyong’o, and more. Nolan wrote the script for the movie and also serves as a producer with his wife, Emma Thomas. This is the Inception director’s first movie since 2023’s Oppenheimer, which was a major winner at the 96th Academy Awards, as it brought home Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Cillian Murphy), Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.), Best Cinematography, and more accolades.

The Odyssey arrives on July 17, 2026, from Universal Pictures.
