Hugh Jackman Stars in Murder Mystery Movie The Sheep Detectives Trailer
Amazon MGM Studios has shared the official trailer for The Sheep Detectives, the star-filled murder mystery comedy led by unlikely detectives who could give Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc a run for his money. The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 8, 2026.
“In this witty, new breed of mystery, George is a shepherd who reads detective novels to his beloved sheep every night, assuming they can’t possibly understand,” reads the synopsis. “But when a mysterious incident disrupts life on the farm, the sheep realize they must become the detectives. As they follow the clues and investigate human suspects, they prove that even sheep can be brilliant crime-solvers.”

What happens in The Sheep Detectives Trailer?
The video introduces Hugh Jackman as a shepherd who gets mysteriously killed at his farm. To solve the mystery behind his sudden death, his flock of sheep launches an investigation after getting fond of the detective novels that Jackman’s character has been reading to them. Joining Jackman is an all-star cast consisting of Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau, Emma Thompson, Tosin Cole, Mandeep Dhillon, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, and Conleth Hill.
The Sheep Detectives is directed by Kyle Balda, with Craig Mazin writing the screenplay based on Leonie Swann’s 2005 novel Three Bags Full. The film will also feature the voices of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O’Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein, and Rhys Darby, who will be playing the sheep characters. It is executive-produced by Sarah-Jane Wright, Amelia Granger, Aditya Sood, Tyson Hesse, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Tim Wellspring. Producers are Lindsay Doran, Tim Bevan, and Eric Fellner.
