Hugh Jackman Hints Wolverine’s Return, Answers Avengers: Doomsday Possibility

Hugh Jackman spoke about whether he will play Wolverine again in a recent interview. In the last month or so, Jackman has responded multiple times to questions about his potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Notably, he last appeared as James “Logan” Howlett / Wolverine in the 2024 feature Deadpool & Wolverine, which introduced the two titular characters to the MCU.

Hugh Jackman discusses if he will play Wolverine again

Jackman appeared in the latest episode of The View to promote his new film Song Sung Blue with Kate Hudson, who also stars in the movie. Questions almost inevitably shifted to Wolverine and Jackman’s potential involvement in Avengers: Doomsday.

One of the hosts, Sunny Hostin, reminded him of the comment he made about potentially playing Wolverine again to Cynthia Erivo during Variety and CNN’s Actors on Actors, and asked if that was a clue regarding his inclusion in Avengers: Doomsday. “That’s not a clue,” Jackman said.

The Academy Award nominee added while covering his face with his hands, “Watch my face. Try to work this out. No.”

Jackman proceeded to note that it didn’t feel like he would ever return to the character. “For five years, I was like, ‘I’m done.’ And Ryan Reynolds would ring me a lot like, ‘Come on!’ I’m like, ‘No,’” Jackman elaborated. “And then I rang him one day and said, ‘I’m in. And so I go with this — and that’s what my gut says — it’s not done. “

However, Jackman then cautioned. “But that’s just me! Marvel might have different ideas.” Jackman has portrayed Wolverine for around 25 years. Doomsday is one of the most highly anticipated projects of next year.

Accordingly, speculations about his prospective return in Avengers 5 and 6 remain high. Doomsday already has a massive cast. However, given that other X-Men cast members are part of it, fans seem to have legitimate reasons for hoping to see Wolverine in that movie.
